Shot this video after my weekday early morning ride. Fibre Flare is really very visible! Highly recommended if you cycle a lot at night or early mornings!
First 'official' ride of the year. This is the first time I participated in this event and boy, no regrets. It's a real mixed bag and I opted to try to chase the fast ones and managed to keep up. Good thing there were a lot of stop points (every 20km or so..) Garmin data as below....only tracked 140km...lost 8km of data as I forgot to switch it on upon leaving NTU rest point. 2011 NTU Bike Rally by boostbutt at Garmin Connect - Details This year, KL, Ben and I participated. We rode from our homes, met up at the usual Nicoll H'way stop and went to the F1 pit. About 1000 people signed up for the event...I think perhaps 800-900 turned up. We were mostly together during the rides until after NTU where we kinda split a bit but still meet up at the rest points. I managed to complete the last 4 stages with the fastest group (arriving at rest stops which were empty!) with the Coastal one being the most brutal as cramps started to creep in. There, I took turns with the lead guy ...
A tough week at work as my company of 15 years is about to go...well....bust! Its morale defeating to everyone in the company. We have so many opportunities in the pipeline but just simply not enough cash flow. Tough week ahead too.... Well, that's another (boring) story. Saddle up and get on with life! OK, the good news, I was crazy enough to do 3 rides and a run over Tues-Friday. Tuesday : 30km TT-like ride with Ryo...of which I notice great improvement over my last similar ride with him last week. Managed to hit 33km/h average upon reaching end of straight coastal road. Took it easy from them on, riding through the park. Wednesday : 30km again, some route, this time, re-installed the Charge Knife saddle. Its more comfy compared to the Antares. Initially just wanted to do a 30km/h ave ride...but had a fast chase (aero bar road bike) at ECP. Thursday : 32km ECP-Siglap route....pretty intense. 31.5km/h ave speed, got to the kopitiam just a shade over 1hr. Previous b...
I was meaning to do my key run #1 (3.5km x 2 at Tempo with 1km Recovery in between) on Wednesday morning. Woke up early, got 'dressed' and as I was heading out, the drizzle got heavier (and heavier....basically rained the whole day). Damn. God's will I guess. Anyway, that was Wednesday's story. Thank goodness the next day was ok. Clouds and a bit of faint drizzle. I did key run #2 (25km at easy long run pace with last 30mins increasing to marathon pace). Started out with a pace of 6:30min/km. Well, for an easy pace, it was defined as the speed where I could just be able to comfortably sing "happy birthday to you" and guess what, I did that check a couple of times along the way, except that the pace was ~6:40min/km. The route is the 'extended ECP 21km route' with the extended parts being coming back into ECP via the Coastal road link and one extra round of the lagoon. This gave a flat 25km distance. I was thinking that it would be easy to run at this ...
